Hear 'n Aid by adadepot

Allright people, we've done it.....we got him! The final mix and mastering is finished!

Chester the Jester (CTJ) came up with the idea for this jam somewhere around december 2006 (!), it took us a loooooong time to really take some action. The
first actions were done around march/april of 2007 by CTJ and SAN: programming drums. In the meantime a few of the joiners decided this was going to be the
first jam with vocals.....yes I know, the original HAS vocals in it, but the adadepot members never did something with vocals. A drumtrack was programmed and
sent to others to start recording, up until october 2007. I was talking with SAN on MSN and I was like: "nice...., but why shouldn't we just gather some people
and lay down something awesome in the studio, a professional sounding recording.....or at least a try.... . So, SAN and I agreed that was a better idea,
which means everything had to be redone ! The redo was a trigger to find a bunch of singers to do the vocals in a professional way! Kim, Peter and I came up
with some people who were able to sing, awesome!

We did the JamNation jam in the meantime by the way, just to keep people busy Smiley

November 28th was THE day; we started around 16:00 in the studio, building up the drumkit, around 19:30 everyone was in: John (drummer), Oppy (guitars)
SAN (guitars), Peter H. Boer (bass) Arco (videos) and me (pretending to be an engineer...) We did around 6 takes I believe, all pretty awesome, but
there can be only one! The final result was something awesome, DIO....you can hire us, because we love it when a plan comes together!

After that moment the lead players had to redo their part and the vocalists started to do their part. Esther Ladiges, Michael Hos, Peter H. Boer
John Tol, Sabine van der Loos.....great takes! While we were gathering the parts one by one, the spirit at our side was 100% alive all the time, but on the
"other" side’s people were backing out. A guy who was super enthusiastic at the start, still needs to get back to me, at least with an explanation for the dead silence
the last couple of months, on the side of Kim also strange things happened and people backed out.....not funny, but oh well.... . In the end ALL vocalists are Dutch!

The result is an awesome sounding jam/cover which I play on and on, the quality of everything is great.

Here is a list with the players and possible websites or bands they are in:

John Tol - drums and vocals (www.eyescantsee.com)

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!

That was the fucking bomb yo!!!!!

Unreal. Kudos to everyone's hard work with this. I don't think it could've come out any better.

Couple of observations:

From the videos it looks everyone had a good time doing this. One thing. How come peeps when shooting guitar video ALWAYS cut their heads off from the shot?  laugh laugh

SirGeorgeHayes- A Kevshred clone. Sweet chops but what the fuck are you wearing??? th_hysterical
BH, nice collection of axes on the wall.  top
Jurrie, love the "mini"
Kim nice chops brah. Why weren't you in any other jams?

And I love how all the Dutchies have beers in their hands when singing the chorus. CLASSIC!

I'm really hoping to hook up with Jurrie and SAN next year for my 40th when we head back over there.

Rock on guys. Great job for all of your hard work gut

Dammit, I just can't stop listening to this thing.  headbang

ADA MP1 = LIVING TONE! ...how can you beat that?

« Reply #9 on: March 10, 2008, 05:39:54 am »

Nice job guys and gals!  Man this was a long wait huh?  ...but worth it!  Once again everyone's playing is top notch.  I still get blown away by doing these jams with peeps I've never met from all around the world.  This one takes the top prize though.  Fantastic mix/mastering work Jur and Peter!!!

The ADA tones on this jam are to die for!  Peters Bass is the best sounding on this jam over all previous I think and the drums really are sounding like cannons aren't they?  Man o Man!!  I am feasting on the mp3  over and over.

Oh, and for something new to the jams...   The singers!  Vocals really brought this home and made it special.  Thanks to all of you!!!!!

The video is awsome!!!  HUGE thanks to Arco.  That bit with Black_Haus' clip was done very nicely considering the technical challenge it presented.  Jur was right, the way it came out "added something".  I have to agree with Finstah, Sir George - what is up with the Hazmat suit?  LOL cracked me up!!!  I wish I had thought of that too!

Jur, you are the man my friend.  Thanks once again for hosting and running the show for us.

On to the jam…

I love the way the intro comes together with the synth and Peters Ebow.  Great idea!
If I may say so, I was quite pleased with the cleans I got from the SS on the 3tm Ultra+.  Mmmm super wet sounding.
Sanders intro lead bit as the rhythm section kicks in is awesome.  I love the progression up to the vocal line San, very tasteful licks!

All the vocal lines delivered on this were SOOOOOOOO enjoyable.  I can’t say enough good things.  There is a lot to the dynamic of how this comes off that is due to the perfect delivery from you guys.  OUTSTANDING shred vocals.  Truly.

Me?  Hey, I forgot to wear my ADA shirt.  Next time I’ll shoot the vid with the rig in the background too.  I had a ton of fun working on this stuff.  I’m very honored to play with you guys.  Thanks!

Finstah bro, you blow me away each time I hear your playing.  Seems to me that you just keep getting better and better.  Man, you seemed to be all over the neck for this.  I enjoyed your whammy spank tribute to Brad Gillis.  Class man, CLASS!  Super harmonies on this.  Was that seperate tracking or your harmonizer? Normally I’m not too into that much gain but dude you pulled this one off sooooo well and the tone is perfect to match the part.   OT - Does your cousin know you’re this good?

Sir George Hayes – I was the first to have the honor of hearing your submission for another jam that never happened.  After that, I couldn’t wait for this jam to come to light for the boys to be introduced to the man in the yellow hazmat suits shred skills.  Wow!  Super tasty and what a sweet tone!  Just SICKENING!

NewC , too bad we didn’t get any footage for your submission, the pics of the guitars was a good sub (nice guitars by the way) Wink.  I wondered who was going to play over the bridge type section. It was really cool how you transition the tone into the heavy part that followed.  Cool stuff man!

OPPY!  Welcome bro!  That’s a great and identifiable sound you have on this.  Dude, how you play off the breaks is quite tasty, I enjoyed that very much.  Some very nice whammy work too.  Love this tone a lot.  How do you spell THICK?  lol

Jurrie, what can I say about the admin that doesn’t sound like I’m sucking up?  lol  Kidding man, as always, very nice work.  I don’t recall, was this done with the 3tm or mod4 markII?  Sounds like 3tm.  Anyway, killer as always.  No Wah though?  nice little pink axe.  Smiley

RiphRaph - Ah, the man just south of me walking on the wah and picking up the slac for Jurrie!  We gotta hangout at your place sometime for beers and or cruise of the local music stores.  Excellent tones bro!  Nice axe too!  I wonder why I didn’t record any clips with my rig in the background.  You guys that did it make the video look so much cooler.  How could it not? LOL

Blackhaus – Love the guitar man, and the video clip is cool as hell.  This is some tasty shizzle bro.  I wish the solo spot was a little longer, I’d like to have heard some more from you. Very nice sound.

Kim, I must echo Finstah’s comments here.  Why aren’t you on more jams?  Sick tone dude,  Just SICK!  Your thick n sick live sound must kill people in the first few rows.  I could handle it though! I think.  LOL   Very cool stuff Kim.  I wish your solo spot was a little longer too, I look forward to hearing you on the next jam.

I Love the way the outtro is sooooo HUGE and Grand/Busy sounding.  Whoever was playing the lead guitar did a freakin fantastic job complementing the vox by Sabine.

Peter H Boer, John Tol, Jur – Guys, thank you very much.  The personal touch on this jam as far a scoring it was great and laying down the rhythm guitar parts was a pleasure.  Thanks again, I had a blast.  The anticipation was really starting to kill me though.  LOL  ....is there another rhythm player on this?  It sounded way way bigger than my mix.

John, I can’t say enough good things about your tasty playing.  The drums sound sooooo HUGE, those combined with the BIG FAT BASS make this thing rumble my whole house when I crank it up.  I love it!

A huge thank you to the Vocalists that stepped in and up to the plate!  If I could wish upon a star, I’d like to have a singing voice.  I envy you guys.  Great job!  I hope the youtube video can bring some good positive exposure to you guys.  Best of luck to everyone involved with this jam and video.  I truly hope we can do it all again.  Jur, you are the man!  THE DEPOT RULES!!

Matt / ctj

ps - JUR, I just searched for the vid on youtube and it doesn't come up. Do you need to subscribe or something?

I'll take one!  NTSC would be nice but if you can't I'm pretty sure the PAL will still play on the pc's here.  Let me know about the $ involved for this.

Finstah you make me wish I practiced more.

I hate to say it but I pretty much get to play about 2-3 a week if I'm lucky. I wish I could go back to the days of 5-6 hours of playing. Sad

I had a ton of fun working on this stuff.  I’m very honored to play with you guys.  Thanks!

Thanks for the compliments brah.  thumpup All harmonies were double tracked. Faked it pretty well in the vid and even pretended to hit the button on my controller.  laugh I must admit my rig was broken down and I had no time to adjust so I went strictly with the Axe and no ADA for this. I was finally able to plug my new Ground Control Pro, my cab and VHT in this weekend with the 3TM and Axe and well, it took me 27 years and $1000's of butholy shit I found my tone bliss!!

Kim, no excuses yo, you need to be in on other jams.
BTW, I thought Marshall got a soundcard for his laptop and was gonna join a jam? Cry Fucking poser  laugh laugh fing2

Also wanted to mention the singing rocked on this. Way to come thru last minute Jurrie. The girlie rawked!

Hi All

This is so very cool and way beyond any expectations.
I knew it would be great....but this is awesome.
We had so much fun at VrNee's recording the guide's

Jur..............you're the greatest......thanx for the hours of inspiration, transpiration and patience.

Arco..........You know what you are and how you make impact on other people.
This is a real cool vid you made...... I know you did it with passion and love for the musicians performing.
Thanx man

Chester...........thanx for the very tight and sharp rhythm tracks.
It is a pleasure working with these kind of tracks and made it a lot easier.
Good vibe and a lot thighter than the original.
Love it.

SAN........We had so much fun together at VrNee studio.
Hope to meet you again someday and jam some more.
Really don't understand your so called shy-ness when it comes to play.
You shred.....you rock.....you're very O.K.

Vai ?

Overall I really liked Sir George a lot.

On tactical reasons I have to say that Jur is the King of us all.
Master of Tone
Ying & Yang
Originator
The beginning and the end.
Must be if you get such a great sound at of such a small axe.

Vocals.......I happen to know some of the these giants and can tell you that
in real they blow you away.
Sabine.........thanx for joining after all.

John......my friend.......you rock !

Me....?
The Oppy guy.
I feel like a cat in a house full of dogs.
Perhaps the only who doesn't use any of the ADA stuff.
Used an Ibanez RG470 FMR with Dimarzio Steve Special hum.
Run through a VOX Tonelab LE.
Directly into the compu and recorded in CoolEdit.
All realtime.......no overdubs......one take ( well one of the 20 takes..... to be honest Undecided )
I play on improvisation that's why it took so many hours and takes to get the job done.
I choosed to be more bluesy on this one cause I figured I would be whiped out in shred mode.
And I was right.......good choice of me.

Again thanx to all of you and hoping to join the next jam............

Oppy
