The good old days

« on: June 15, 2007, 10:50:54 pm »

Hi.  Just another guy who's kept his MP1 alive for this long.  Had my MP1 since 1986, never found a reason to change, other than the caps inside, hehe.  Back then, used Kramers, another dead company.  Now just Jacksons.  Ran Digitech effects, rack stuff, still do, only newer.  This goes into a Fender Bassman 10, with the head removed (fried).

Writing this, listening to Accept, I guess I've never grown out of it.  All the 80's metal, that's all I listen to, no radio, CD's, nothing.  Oddly, I don't play any 80's metal, hehe.

In 2 bands, one originals only, the other covers only, 70's through today variety stuff.  Nothing that exercises the chops like the 80's did.

I've enjoyed reading the forums here, and finally decided to sign up...so here I am, no longer "guest".

Marmoset, at least you're 16.  I didn't even start playing until I was out of HS and in college unlike damn near everyone else who plays.  Yeah, I was born in the 60's, how's that for age, hehe.  But, you're right, or I'm old and stubborn...the 80's were cool.

Thank you all for the mighty welcome, or official welcome.  I've been trolling this for the last couple of years, just finally made it official and signed up.

The board has helped me with some MIDI problems I had/still have, hehe, so I know it's worth.  There's no other like it!

Thank you for the welcome, everyone sure does make you feel welcome, that's cool.

As far as the Jacksons, SL1's and 3's.  Back in the day, my first Jackson was a white Flying V, not because of Ozzy, but because of Accept, hehe.  God I loved that thing.  Finally broke the head off too many times, but the frets were pretty much gone by then too.  Oh, most of my guitars are and have been plain old black.  I don't get too fancy with the looks.

Also, back in the day, I "attempted" to build a Steinberger thingy, you remember, those headless things.  Well, I'm not a metal machinist, so I couldn't make the tremolo, even if I could figure out it's design.  As far as the rest, a short scale neck with the head cut off, ash body, not composite carbon, hehe.  Pretty much an ugly turd that I rarely used.  Bad balance was it's biggest problem, hehe.

See, that's the problem with us old timers.  Been around too long, too many stupid stories, hehe.  Take care, and thanks for the "welcome" again.
