Hello,

Can anyone tell me the drop down voltage  to the board after the transformer. The VA I think it's called.

Have a stock MP-1 with an American tranny in it and want to put a external UK but need to know what to drop from 240v to?

Thanks

Hi - the USA version works off 120VAC. If you need to run it from 240V in the UK, you need a step down transformer like this one at Maplins :-

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=31899

This allows 100W (plenty for the MP-1). Costs about £10

OR - you could get an MDRT from MJMP (internal replacement transformer).

Hope this helps.     headbang

I second that. If you want to make life easier for you AND get better tone, just buy an MDRT from MJMP. He's a well known guy here, our very own tech guru, and an all-around nice guy.

Definitlely the way to go, I'm waiting for a MDRT too.

I was using a stepdown UK 240V to USA 110V before and it was not good enough to power the ADA MP-1 as it kept going into a checksum and not booting up at random. I mean it would be great for a couple of days and then WTF is going on here.

Of course all of those commercially available stepdown transformers deliver 110V and thats ok for most consumer products but very dodgy for the MP-1 as I found out halfway through a gig one night where it let me down big time.

It seems that the lowest voltage required to fire up the MP-1 is about 112.5V, at least thats what it is on mine and I still have the original rectifier diodes in there. What I did to resolve the issue was get a tech to wind me a transformer that delivered a good secondary 120V from a 230V primary.

Well having said all that I'm trying to save space at the back of my rack unit so the stepdown is history whenever MJMP gets the new batch of MDRT's in stock soon.
