It's official. I'm an ADA man to the bone. My Marshall just went up for sale!!

Well, last night was my first live performance with the new MP-1 rig.  I've been contemplating getting rid of my Marshall DSL50 altogether.  Well, last night cinched it.  I had the absolute easiest time and best tone with the new rig.  I can't even hold on to the marshall as a backup rig anymore.  So, today, I put her on Craiglist.  Now we wait.

I also put the 4x12 cab up for sale too.  The reason for going to an MP-1 to begin with was to build a true stereo rig.  Even though the 1960B can be a stereo cab and does sound good as such, I'm gonna go with a couple of Blackheart BH112 1x12 cabinets so I can have better stereo separation and more versatility in where the cabs are pointed, etc..  Not to mention it's easier to fit 2 1x12 cabs in the back seat of my car than a Marshall 4x12. 

So, yeah.  It's official.  I'm no longer a Marshall man.  I'm an MP-1 guy to the core now!!!

Use MARSHALL POWERAMPS  theres heads are bullshit useless modded or using something ran into the front of it.

Well, the marshall head is gone.  Still selling the cab.  I've got one Blackheart BH112 and one more on the way.  Lemme tell ya, the Blackhearts don't have as much low end as a marshall 412 (No sh!t) but they sound GLORIOUS!!!  And with two of them for a stereo rig with some speaker separation, it's gonna sound BIG!!!

Once you get that second cab, it'll sound very W-I-D-E if you keep them side by side. I usually put my (SKB) rack face under the front of my cabs to point them up a bit rather than have the sound shooting past my feet.

Oh, you'll plenty of bottom end by simply tweaking your EQ a bit. Pump those lows and you'll get the thump you're looking for.

I'm actually getting three tilt amp stands to put the cabs on and to put the rack on so I can point them up and angle them in any direction.  Those blackhearts just sound more "crisp" than the 1960B.

I went through the same thing 4 or 5 years ago..
I had a marshall tsl 100.. after getting my mp-1 the marshall was sold!!!

I'm kinda thinking the same thing... I just started with a band and am getting my gear situation worked out..... I have a JCM800, like a late '80s with a 1960B, and of course my original MP-1 (which I just had cleaned up), a rocktron expression and a couple of pedals.  I was told that the JCM800s were one of the last good Marshalls, so I've been holding off, especially since I don't know anyone that has used any power amps.  I am looking at an ADA B200S, I'm not sure whether it matters if a power amp is tube or SS based.  Which power amps are you guys using/would recommend?  I may just hang on to the head for sentimental purposes.... I am also looking at a pair of ADA 2x12s.....

I don't have a backup for my MP-1 but its on my list as a BBE Sonic Maximizer.....

I used to play thru a JCM800 (2204) and it was nice, but it was totally a one-trick-pony. I haven't regretted selling it over the last 20 years since.

You can't go wrong with a B200s - it's rock solid and sounds great. Just amplifies what you put into it and it's plenty loud. Any tube amps will color your sound a bit (which ain't bad - if that's what your after). Much has been discussed about this very topic - search around a bit.

Bottom line is that it's up to your ears to decide.

Raven1a,   Could you post some clips of the MP-1/Blackheart combination?  Are the amps loud enough to gig with?  Do they stay clean without a lot of breakup, to get loud.
