Hey All,

Is the 3TM capable of the brown sound? If so, can you share your patch?

The ADA 3TM can come close too the Brown Sound. But the ADA Mp-1 has OP AMPS in the design  Unlike Marhsall or Soldano for VH Stuff Keep that in Mind.

The Clean Tube Channel has a fat Fuzzy distorted tone, with an Eq in the effects loop boosting the Highs you can get comparable Eddie tones

Hi. To make this clear out. Tube clean is not so good with the 3TM. If you want really good Tube clean with the 3TM you have to go for the Ultra+ which delivers really clean pure sound. There are alot of components in the audio pad which have to be replaced with other components. U17 needs LT 1058 for instance + some caps.

Nonsense spotted. Yes, the MP-1 has opamps in the signal path. And that would make it unable to produce good tone? Plain nonsense. For one, if you look at the schematics instead of repeating unverified assertions, you'll find that the opamps are mostly there for buffering and other stuff that is basically not in charge of producing the distortion. The disto tones all come from the tubes, and in that regard the MP-1 is designed as well as any other full tube amp.

It irks me to read such biased assertion, and we all know how much bias the guitarist world has! In my opinion, it's much less silly to use an opamp for input buffering than dedicating one half of a tube that therefore doesn't have the opportunity to produce those nice distortions we all love. So let's stop with the nonsense already.

My 2 cents, YMMV, and all this, of course.

What I ment about the OPAMPS, its thats one thing that gives the Mp-1 the compressed sound that I like. Honestly I wouldn't use and MP-1 for the Brown Sound. The Brown sound it not Compressed at all, its a very open and dynamic sound.   A Bogner Triple gaint would be a better bet. I didn't say anything about an OPAMP not being able to produce a good tone.

And to Clarify  The Clean Tube Channel is USEABLE. It think is sounds Thick and pretty sick for (SUFFOCATION) Style Tones. I've used it in a prior band.

People!! Angry
To much confusion in this thread already, please make sure that everyone is talking about the same thing!  Roll Eyes

The topic asks about brown sound with the 3TM, he is NOT really talking about the stock MP-1. The difference between these to units is essential in this discussion, since the Tube Clean channel is very different!
So lets keep it this simple to begin with.

So from my experience:
The stock MP-1 clean tube channel pretty much IS a brown channel. You can clean it up, and you can turn up the gain alot, but to begin with it produces a typical brown sound. (and then discussing if this sound is good or not so good compared to other amps would be the next level of discussion, but not belonging in this topic. Personally I think it sound absolutely great!  )

And then the REAL question in this topic is: how does the 3TM managge to play Brown sound?

Well, to begin with, the Clean Tube channel in the 3TM has pretty much been turned into a distortion channel! Not a brown channel anymore, so it seems to be more difficult. But as Mythos points out, it is a difference if the 3TM is ultra+ or not!
In fact, I am waiting to get my upgraded 3TM as we speak. Mythos has given it a full upgrade, and I will be able to give my opinion on the brown sound when I get it back Grin
Before the upgrade it was not so good for brown sound. For that I would use my stock MP-1.

Perhaps someone should suggest some settings they use with the 3TM and brownish sound? Then it would be easier to compare and see what works with different units! (and after all, that is what the topic asks about smartass
