Jurrie Teeuwen was a King.

He lived his life like a Prince,
He married a true Princess, and gave the world a beautiful son.

The Depot will carry his name and his flame.
His friends will carry his memory.

The King is dead,
long live the King!!!!

You are truly missed mon frère.
But your soul forever lives on.

My deepest condolences and sympathy to Betty and Nick.

I’m very sad to hear this news. Sad

My sincere condolences to his wife, son and family.

I never met Jurri in person, but through this website and forum I got a glimpse of the good heart this man had. He was a kind person and I was proud to call him my friend. The world is a lesser place without him now.

God bless you Jurri.

You will always be my friend.

I don't really know what to say.  I'm pretty much dumbfounded.

Jur's the reason I'm rockin' the rig I'm rockin'.  If the depot didn't exist, I probably would never have been able to get enough information to decide if I wanted to try an MP-1 rig out.  Now the damn thing is my life blood.  And I wouldn't have gone with the Peavey Classic 50/50 for a power amp if Jur hadn't recommended it.

Jur was a good man and a true rockstar.  He will be missed.

R.I.P Jurrie. Its all a bit of a shock to me. The last 2 years or so i couldnt come on here much and only recently I came back to this forum, mainly because there was always a great friendship vibe goin on here and jur was definatly the creator of that. I too was lucky enough to play some of the jams with him and the guy always had amazing tone and feel.
Im sure he's rockin away right now up there.

Gray Unlife Chip = Batteryless Mp-1 and Mp-2

WWW
« Reply #40 on: October 18, 2009, 09:04:44 am »

Back in roughly 2003 after hearing from a friend on mine that he used to have an ADA MP-1 before he switched over to a Mesa Boogie Tri-Axis, I did a google search and found the ADA Depot site. I went through the site reading whatever I could about ADA's line of pre-amps. I thought the site was great so I joined the forums under my previous id Chuckster D Meister and later changed my user name to Atari Charles as this is what I widely go by on the internet. Jurrie and I pmed each other occasionally with various MP-1 info and talk of a book I was planning to write at the time called "The Rise and Fall of ADA", which was to focus both on ADA's product line as well as the company itself. Jur mailed me a stack of schematics and various documents that he had from ADA for use and reference in the book. Unfortunately due to time constraints and other projects I had on the go, the book was cancelled and I mailed Jur his ADA stack of documents, etc. back to him.

I still frequented the ADA Depot forums from time to time. I remember Jur and I discussing a way for the MP-1 to work without a battery, and this lead to the Gray Unlife Mod thanks to Jurrie and Ken Fox. Jur and I would pm each other about other ADA related topics and just gear stuff in general. He was a very cool guy to talk to.

Today I decided to visit ADA Depot and to my great dismay I read about Jur's fight with cancer and his passing. I am still in shock over this and as I type this I am trying to understand this most unfortunate event. I remember the saying "The candle that burns twice as bright burns twice as fast." being spoken about Jim Morrison and thinking it too fits Jurrie. Jur indeed is a shining star and did so much in his short time here on Earth.

I am glad that I got to know Jur through ADA Depot and regret not getting to meet him in person. He always struck me as a good guy who loved life, loved his family, and loved this community.

Even though Jur has left the building for that Rock n' Roll concert in the sky, he has left behind of parts of himself. ADA Depot is one of the parts of Jur, which represents his love of music, people, and cool gear.

Charles

Thanks Jur for sharing with everyone your life and passion.
Because of you i love to play my guitar so much now thru my mp-1 mod4.
That would not have happened had you not started this site and gave a forum for very talented people such as yourself, MJMP, Hariston and everyone else that has great ideas
and made legendary things happen here.

Indeed the ADA brand, and musicians worldwide owe you a debt of gratitude.  headbang
