Simple Minds Live - In The City Of Light
Great collection of their best songs.  I listened a lot to them back in the days, and still love the openness in their arrangements - and that great ringing synched-echoed rhythm guitar Agreed

Patty Smith Group - Wave.   Listening to "Frederick" and "Dancing Barefoot" always takes me right back to my freaky late 70's Wink

RUSH... Hold Your Fire...

More often than not, it's the standard by which all is measured...

Just kidding, but it's damn good...

You're close, Adam, but I think you are 1 album late.  I have always thought that Power Windows was the most perfectly produced album ever.  I say this because I have found it impossible to find a sound system that it doesn't sound fantastic on.  Even crappy computer speaker or cheap headphones, it always sound better than anything else I play on it.

Hold Your Fire is also incredibly produced and engineered.  I'm also a big fan of Queensryche's Empire album.  The common denominator -- Peter Collins.  I would give both my "jewels" to record an album with Peter Collins  icon_bow

Later...

John,

Man oh man... flip a coin... either album will do... I think I like the guitar work on HYF a bit more?  I might be biased 'cause I saw them on the HYF tour and it was a religious experience...  the drums on PW might be better... Mystic Rhythms live was too much...

Lately also, in a completely different vein, I've been playing Living Colour's VIVID and a couple of tracks from TIME'S UP.  Aimee Allen too... Scott and Aimee is good too... I saw her last August... fantastic...

Hey Adam,

I couldn't agree more about the guitar work on HYF.  Definitely better than PW.  But, I prefer the balance of sound from PW...personal taste  Wink

We must be listening to the same music collection.  I was just listening the some tracks from VIVID and TIMES UP driving home from work yesterday.  I love Vernon's tone on "Type"  guitar

John,

Rush PW and HYF:  both albums are just SO good... certainly my two favorites from Rush...

Living Colour:  I think VIVID is a much stronger overall album... lean and hungry, but NEW JACK THEME is fantastic as is THIS IS THE LIFE...

Alright... Steve Stevens' MEMORY CRASH? Or Vai's SEX AND RELIGION?
